HELP PROTECT THE FOREST THIS EARTH DAY

One of the things that makes Forbidden Forest truly unforgettable is its location. Tucked away in the enchanting woodlands surrounding Belvoir Castle, the backdrop of towering trees, winding trails and natural beauty feels like we’re stepping into another world. It’s this magical setting that creates the unique atmosphere that our Forbidden Family have come to know and love.

With this comes responsibility. At the very heart of our festival is the message, ‘Leave The Forest As You Found It’. We’re committed to doing everything we can to preserve and protect the natural environment that makes this festival so special.

So, this Earth Day, we’re buzzing to share that we’re taking things up a notch for 2025. Expect new sustainability initiatives, bigger eco-friendly partnerships and more ways for you to get involved in protecting The Forest. Together, we can work to keep the magic alive for years to come.

For every 1000 cups returned, Event Cup Solutions will plant a brand-new tree in the UK!

Help us give back to The Forest

GETTING RID OF SINGLE USE PLASTIC ON OUR BARS

We’re launching our reusable cup scheme and by taking part, you will help to reduce waste and carbon emissions at Forbidden Forest.

We want to eradicate single use plastic and to take a huge step towards this, we’ve partnered with Event Cup Solutions, a Climate Certified company that will provide reusable cups for all of our bars. These are then taken away and washed using water efficient machines at locations powered by renewable energy.

How it works:

  1. Pay a one-off charge of £2 on top of the price of your first drink. This covers the rental of the cup for the entire festival.
  2. Once you’ve finished your drink, keep hold of your cup and swap it for a new one when you go back to the bar for your next drink. If you’re not quite ready for another drink straight away, you can swap your empty cup for a token that can be redeemed for another cup later on.

As always, we ask you to leave The Forest as you found it so please return your cup at the end of the festival. This allows us to minimise the impact on the grounds and gives each cup the chance to be reused.

Not only that – for every 1000 cups returned, Event Cup Solutions will plant a brand-new tree in the UK!

THE TENTLESS FOREST

The next part of our mission to leave The Forest as we found it takes place in the campsite. Every year, thousands of tents are abandoned at UK festivals, creating mountains of waste that often end up in landfill. We’re changing that.

The Tentless Forest is our pledge to protect The Forest by encouraging every single camper to take their tent home. Together, we can keep Forbidden Forest wild, clean and truly magical for generations to come.

This year, we’re aiming for zero tents left behind. That means:

  • Bringing a tent that lasts – no cheap, single-use tents.
  • Taking everything home – leave nothing behind but memories.
  • Choosing pre-pitched options – take the stress away from putting your tent up and taking it down with our pre-pitched options in The Forbidden Retreat here.

Join the movement and take the pledge. Let’s look after The Forest together.

TRAVEL TO FORBIDDEN FOREST

Did you know that travel can contribute up to 80% of the total carbon footprint for Forbidden Forest each year?

This is one of the reasons we have partnered with Big Green Coach. BGC is the UK’s largest carbon-neutral event travel provider and a pioneer in sustainable transport with 15 years of industry expertise. The pioneering transport solutions company is proud of its part in tackling the environmental impact that travel has in the transport and live events industries. Coach travel is already the greenest transport option, taking cars off the road and using less land for parking.

The environment has always been a core focus for Big Green Coach. From inception, Big Green Coach planted trees for every coach it operated to events. The team then worked with Cool Earth sponsoring 10 sq. ft. of Amazonian Rainforest for 10 years, for every single customer transported. This protected close to 2 million sq.ft. of Amazon rainforest for a period of ten years.

To celebrate Earth Day this year, our friends over at Big Green Coach will be rolling out an exclusive 24-hour offer for our Forbidden Family!

Book a 4-day weekend camping ticket with Big Green Coach between midday April 22nd and midday April 23rd to claim your FREE coach travel.

NEW RECYCLING STATIONS

As part of our ongoing commitment to preserving the natural beauty of The Forest, we’re doubling down on our efforts to leave no trace behind. Sustainability is at the heart of what we do and this year, we’re placing an even greater focus on encouraging every single person on-site to do their part when it comes to recycling.

To support this, we’re introducing 4 easily accessible recycling points throughout the festival site. Each station will feature separate bins for Paper/Cardboard, Metal, Hard Plastics, Soft Plastics & Glass, making it easier than ever to dispose of your waste responsibly.

Behind the scenes, we’ll have a dedicated team that will work hard to carefully sort all the collected materials, ensuring that everything recyclable is given the chance to be reused or repurposed. The more we’re able to recycle, the more protection we give to our natural home.

Let’s work together to keep The Forest clean and green for many years to come.
